Objectives

The Bachelor’s programme in Mathematical Engineering is interdisciplinary and research oriented. Students acquire equally in-depth knowledge in an engineering subject and mathematics. A special feature of the new course are the two modelling modules which focus to a high degree on providing the skills needed for interdisciplinary work. Programming skills and the ability to work with mathematical and technical software are also conveyed, but are not a major focus of the study programme.

Berufliche Perspektiven

Graduates are both engineers and mathematicians. Thanks to their qualifications they are bridge builders between the specialist disciplines and as a result have, to a very particular degree, the skills for interdisciplinary work in the fields of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering. As highly qualified specialists they are able to shape processes in traffic planning or the logistics industry, or develop navigation systems or optimisation processes in industry. They may also have successful careers in the development departments of the electronics industry, the automobile industry, communications and safety engineering, in plant and equipment engineering, or in the food industry. Over and above this, the degree entitles students to study for a Master’s degree in mathematics or - depending on their field of study - an engineering subject.
