Objectives

In the course "Mechanical Engineering" the focus is on the mediation of engineering science methods, which require a solid mathematical, scientific and technical basic knowledge. The students acquire a depth knowledge and skills, to solve theoretical and application-related problems independently, holistically and solu-tion-oriented as well as interdisciplinary. They specialize individually in the chosen major.

Berufliche Perspektiven

Graduates of mechanical engineering are need-ed in all classical and innovative industrial sec-tors. Very good employment possibilities can be found in all areas of mechanical engineering, plant engineering, automotive and vehicle con-struction, energy and aeronautical engineering, but also in adjacent areas, eg medical technolo-gy. Typical fields of application are, for example, calculation, design and development, simulation, testing, production, quality assurance, maintenance and recycling. The degree also qualifies for the continuation of academic training within a master's degree course.

The studies require solid knowledge of mathe-matics and physics as well as a basic technical understanding. In addition, the interest in tech-nical and natural sciences is a good precondition for the study. It is recommended to complete a 4-week basic practical course before the start of the studies, as this will promote the understanding of the contents already at the beginning semesters. Proof of completion of the basic internship must be provided no later than the end of the 4th semester.

More information

The course of studies is structured in such a way that the students specialize (semesters 4 and 5) on the basis of a compulsory program (semesters 1 to 3) according to their interests. Part of the course is also a specialist internship of a total of 12 weeks. The course is concluded with a Bachelor thesis in the 6th semester.
