Objectives
The undergraduate degree program B.Sc. Biomedical Sciences is designed to prepare students for a scientific career in the field of biomedicine, human biology, neuroscience, immunology or related research areas. Graduates of the course should be qualified for research-oriented undergraduate degree courses.
The aim of the course is to acquire a broad and at the same time detailed and critical understanding of specialist knowledge as well as the general capability to learn and work independently using scientific methods. Students will acquire the skills to solve problems in a scientifically structured manner, considering related disciplines, and to communicate their knowledge to colleagues and laypersons in english. Graduates of the course will be enabled to contribute to research in their subject area beyond the current state of the art and acquire advanced skills and knowledge by themselves. Even on the basis of limited information, graduates of the course will learn to make scientifically sound decisions, considering scientific evidence as well as the social and ethical context. They will learn to assume responsibility in a team.
Berufliche Perspektiven
Graduates of the Biomedical Sciences degree program should find jobs regionally, nationally and internationally in research institutions for basic research in biology, medicine and pharmacy, applied research at industrial companies in pharmacy, medical technology and biotechnology, as well as at specialist authorities. Last but not least, the B.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences provides an excellent basis for entering a Master's program in subjects with a biological-medical focus, e.g. Master in Integrative Neuroscience or Master in Immunology at OVGU.
