Calls for International Researchers
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research maintains lists of scholarship providers for international researchers and scientists on its website. These are not specifically designed for refugees, but offer a possibility to apply for funding.
In the Walter Benjamin Programme, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) also supports refugee researchers in applying for a position at a German research institution.
European Research Council
The European Research Council has published a list on its website entitled "ERC for Ukraine". This list contains job advertisements from all over Europe for Ukrainian researchers. The list is sorted by EU countries in alphabetical order to simplify the search.
The list includes universities and research institutes from Berlin, Dresden, Braunschweig, Hanover and others.
In 2015, the Volkswagen Foundation launched a visiting research programme for academics from Afghanistan to support them by enabling them to spend time in Germany.
The Insititut of International Education's Scholar Rescue Fund has been supporting scholars from all over the world who are no longer safe in their home countries since 2002.
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Horizon Europe) will launch a call for fellowships for Ukrainian refugees on 24 October. With 25 million euros, the MSCA4Ukraine programme will enable scientists to continue working on their doctorate or as postdocs.
There will be an online event on 6 October.
